SAP > Inventory > Inventory Transactions > Initial Quantities, Inventory Tracking, and Inventory Posting

Inventory Balances Screen, SAP Business One

1. Choose the “Initial Quantity” Tab

2. Leave the Inventory “Code” (From / To) fields Blank

3. Leave the “Vendor” (From / To) fields Blank

4. Choose the “Warehouse” you are entering the Beginning Balances for

a. You will need to repeat this process for Each Warehouse

5. Check “Allow Initial Quantities without Price” if applicable

6. Choose the “Price Source for Whse Inv Posting” method

7. Click “OK”

8. Enter the GL Account Number you are using to post the initial quantities

9. Enter the Date you are using to begin the initial quantities (SAP defaults at the beginning of the Fiscal Period, click in the field to change the date)

10. The reference information will be copied to the journal entry when the initial quantities are posted

11. Details are also copied to the journal entry when the initial quantities are posted

12. Confirm you are in the correct Warehouse

a. If you’re in the Wrong Warehouse, Go Back by Clicking the Blue Arrow and change the Warehouse Number

13. Enter the Initial Quantity

14. Enter the Price of the Item

15. Enter the G/L Account Number

16. The Distribution Rule is used to specify the distribution rule or profit center to be linked to the transaction created as a result of entering initial quantities for items.

17. Click “Add” when complete
